Friday 7th October I 16:00 – 18:00 I Online

This reading session will engage with the work of Aijaz Ahmad, an Indian-born American philosopher literary theorist and political commentator.
Aijaz Ahmad died in March 2022; his presence in India was a source of extraordinary stimulus for the intellectual and political life in the country. His celebrated work In Theory: Classes, Nations and Literature contained an important critique of Edward Said’s Orientalism that sought above all to establish the primacy of the Indian classical Marxist tradition.
